The application portion of this website is managed by Wizehive and all provisions governing your participation in this Competition (including the Services provided through it) are described in the Terms and Conditions (“Terms”). This Privacy Policy is incorporated into and is a part of the Terms. Please read this Privacy Policy carefully, as it describes what information we gather from you, and how we may use and disclose that information. By registering a User Account and/or by accessing or using this Website, you expressly consent to the information handling practices described in this Privacy Policy.


Wizehive Zengine Platform

  • Programs and Application Forms are administered by the Salazar Center at Colorado State University (“Program Manager”). Program Managers conduct Programs, often collecting data through application and other forms using our Services. We host these application forms and collect the responses that you submit to the Program Manager along with other Program Data. If you have any questions about an application you are completing or a Program you are participating in, please contact the Program Manager directly as WizeHive is not responsible for the content of that application or your responses to it.
  • Responses are not anonymous. All Program Participants to the Thriving Cities Challenge are required to provide identifying information including name and email addresses for a Primary Applicant (as described in the Terms and Conditions).
  • We don’t sell your responses to third parties. WizeHive does not sell or share your data with third party advertisers or marketers; we merely act as a custodian on behalf of the Program Manager who controls your data.
  • If you think a Program violates our Terms of Service or may be engaging in illegal activity, contact support@wizehive.com to report it.

1. What information does WizeHive collect?

When you complete an application and other forms as a Program Participant in a Program hosted by WizeHive, we collect, on behalf of the Program Manager, information relating to you and your use of our Services from a variety of sources, listed below.

Information we collect directly from you

  • Application responses. We collect and store the application responses that you submit. The Program Manager is responsible for, and manages, this Program Data. An application may ask you to provide personal information. If you have any questions about an application you are taking, please contact the Program Manager directly as WizeHive is not responsible for the content of that application. The Program Manager is usually the same person or organization that invited you to complete the application and may have their own privacy policy.

Information we collect about you from other sources

  • Usage data. We collect usage data about you whenever you interact with our Services. This may include which web pages you visit, what you click on, when you performed those actions, and so on. Additionally, as with most websites today, our web servers keep log files that record data each time a device accesses those servers. The log files contain data about the nature of each access, including originating IP addresses, internet service providers, the files viewed on our site (e.g., HTML pages, graphics, etc.), operating system versions, and timestamps.
  • Device data. We collect data from the device and application you use to access our services, such as your IP address, operating system version, device type, system and performance information, and browser type. We may also infer your geographic location based on your IP address.
  • Referral data. We record information about the source that referred you to an application (e.g. a link on a website or in an email).
  • Your email address. Our Services collect your email address. We don’t use this to send you email except at the direction of a Program Manager. The emails we send on behalf of a Program Manager may appear to come from that Program Manager’s email address. If you no longer want to be contacted by the Program Manager, please directly send your request to the Program Manage

2. How does WizeHive use the information we collect?

Your application responses are owned and managed by the Program Manager, and we treat that information as private to the Program Manager (except if the Program Manager has made any Program Data available via a public link). Please contact the Program Manager directly to understand how they will use Program Data. Some Program Managers will provide you with a privacy policy or notice when you complete their application. We encourage you to review this document or request more information from the Program Manager to understand how the Program Manager may use your information. WizeHive does not sell your data to third parties or use Program Data to contact Program Participants.

We use the information we collect from you (including usage data, device data, referral data and information from page tags) to manage and improve our Services and for research  purposes. We may also use aggregated and de-identified data to provide certain analytic information to Program Managers to assist them in managing programs and for the various purposes described in the Program Manager version of this privacy policy.

3. With whom do we share or disclose your information?

We disclose: Your application responses and other Program Data to Program Managers. We host Programs managed by Program Managers. They have access to and manage all Program Data. Please contact the Program Manager directly to understand how they might share your data. Please see the Program Manager version of this privacy policy.

4. What are your rights to your information?

Contact the Program Manager to access and correct your responses and personal information or if you have any questions about the application or if you want to access, update, or delete anything in your responses. We provide Program Managers with tools to maintain the responses they collect through their applications. Although you may contact privacy@wizehive.com to request access to the personal information we hold about you to view and to correct it, in most cases WizeHive cannot provide you with this access since Program Data is the Program Manager’s private information and giving you access may have an unreasonable impact on the privacy of other individuals. We will respond to your request for access or correction within a reasonable time and, where reasonable and practicable to do so, we will provide access to your personal information in the manner requested by you.

5. Security, cookies, Google Analytics, and other important information

  • Security. More information about WizeHive’s security practices are available in our Security Statement. We are committed to handling your personal information and data with integrity and care. However, regardless of the security protections and precautions we undertake, there is always some risk that your personal data may be viewed and used by unauthorized third parties as a result of collecting and transmitting your data through the Internet. If you have any questions about the security of your personal information, contact support@wizehive.com.
  • Data locations. Our servers and those of our service providers are currently all based in the United States, so your personal information will be hosted and processed in the United States.
  • Cookies. We and our partners use cookies and similar technologies on our websites. Cookies are small bits of data we store on your device to access our Services so we can recognize repeat users. Each cookie expires after a certain period of time, depending on what we use it for. We use cookies and similar technologies for several reasons:
    • To make our site easier to use. We store your username in a cookie to make it quicker for you to sign in whenever you return to our Services.
    • For security reasons. We use cookies to authenticate your identity, such as confirming whether you are currently logged into our Services.
    • To provide you with personalized content. We may store user preferences in cookies to personalize the content you see and to enhance your user experience based on information you have previously provided.  For example, we use cookies to ensure that users can’t re-apply to applications that they have already completed.
    • To improve our Services. We use cookies to measure your usage of our websites and track referral data, as well as to occasionally display different versions of content to you. This information helps us to develop and improve our Services and optimize the content we display to users.
  • Google Analytics. Your Program Manager may enable Google Analytics to provide  aggregated, anonymized website traffic analysis to improve the user experience and determine site effectiveness. In order to track your session usage, Google drops a cookie (_ga) with a randomly-generated ClientID into your browser. This ID is anonymized and contains no identifiable information like email, phone number, name, etc. but Google may be sent your IP Address. Google Analytics may be used to track aggregated website behavior, such as what pages you view, for how long, and so on. You may contact your Program Manager to learn if Google Analytics has been enabled. If you would like to access any browsing information that has been collected  – or ask to delete any Google Analytic data – you can delete your _ga cookies, reach out to your Program Manager, and/or install the Google Analytics Opt-Out Browser Add-On.   • Single Sign On.   You may be permitted to log in to certain Services using sign-in services from another application that you have access to. This third party application is used to authenticate your identity and may also provide certain personal information – such as your name and email address  – to pre-populate your profile in our Services.
  • Safety of Minors and COPPA. Our Services are not intended for and may not be used by minors. “Minors” are individuals under the age of majority in their place of residence (or under 13 in the United States).  WizeHive does not knowingly collect personal data from minors or allow them to register. If it comes to our attention that we have collected personal data from a minor, we may delete this information without notice. If you have reason to believe that this has occurred, please contact privacy@wizehive.com.
  • English version controls. Non-English translations of this privacy policy are provided for convenience. In the event of any ambiguity or conflict between translations, the English version is authoritative.

6. Additional information for California residents

If you are a resident of the State of California you may have additional rights under the California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA), which took effect as of January 1, 2020.  CCPA applies to “businesses” – generally, for profit entities – that do business in California and meet certain business thresholds set out in the CCPA. The CCPA requires that covered businesses detail the categories of personal information that they share or disclose for certain business purposes, and grants California state residents certain rights, including the rights to access specific types of personal information, to learn how providers process personal information, to request deletion of personal information, and not to be denied goods or services for exercising these rights.

If your Program Manager is a for profit entity that is subject to CCPA, your Program Manager will determine how the questions and responses in their application forms are used and disclosed. WizeHive only processes the Program Data according to the instructions and permissions (including those given under this privacy policy) selected by the Program Manager when they create and administer their Program, Please contact your Program Manager to learn more about their collection and use of your personal information or to exercise any of your rights under the CCPA.

In compliance with the CCPA, WizeHive does not sell any personal information of Program Participants and we use such data only in connection with the processing Services we provide and in accordance with our Privacy Policy.
